Even though the Nintendo Switch came out back in March, theyre still selling like crazy and almost impossible to find. If youre hoping to score one before the holiday season, heres what you need to know.

Since March, Nintendo has increased production of the console, and Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aim told Variety that their number one focus is on having enough for consumers this fall. But theres no telling whether Nintendo will actually be able to meet demand. GameStop got a shipment of nearly 25,000 units to its more than 4,400 stores a month ago, and they all sold out in minutes. That means youll have to be on top of things if you want to score one for your family (or yourself) any time soon. Oh, and you better start looking yesterday.

Keep Checking With Retailers

Chances are, you wont happen upon a Switch just sitting on a shelf as you saunter through the electronics section, so you need to make an effort to reach out to stores and ask them for information. Call stores nearby and kindly ask if they have any units, then ask if they know when they usually get shipments of the console. I was finally able to get mine by talking to a ToysRUs employee and showing up to the store the morning of their usual shipments. Heres a list of big box retailers worth checking with regularly:
